Cotopaxi – Quilotoa
Ride Cotopaxi's flanks, cross the country's widest páramo and sleep above a jade crater lake. Day two: hike to the water's edge and descend the "Grand Canyon" of Ecuador to Pujilí.
Two volcanoes, one night, endless stories
When one day of Andean downhill isn't enough: four overnight trips that pair Ecuador's biggest descents with crater-rim inns, high páramo lodges and rainforest hotels. About 50 km of riding a day — adjust at will from the support jeep.

Two of Ecuador's five giants in one weekend. On day two you'll walk to the 5,000 m refuge of the highest mountain in the land, then ride its empty dirt roads past wild vicuñas.
Market morning, then Lake San Pablo by bike, the sacred Peguche falls, Cuicocha's crater lake and colonial Ibarra — the northern highlands at pedal speed.
The wet side of the Andes: descend from the 4,200 m Paso de la Virgen to Baeza, trek to Ecuador's highest waterfall, then soak in Papallacta's thermal pools on the way home.
21-speed mountain bike, helmet and pads, veteran bilingual guide and the 4x4 support jeep with driver — departures daily at 07h00 with two or more riders.
Meals as marked (B, L, D) and a night in a hand-picked inn or hotel — from crater-rim coziness to rainforest relaxation.
Only national-park entrance fees (Cotopaxi US$ 10, San Rafael US$ 5 per person), pools and contributions to indigenous hosts are paid separately.
We had an excellent bike trip. We did the San Rafael overnight trip. Had great downhills, a little uphill work too. Beautiful scenery, excellent host and driver. And food, muy rico.Tom Brief San Rafael overnight tour
