Markets, jungle, volcanoes, hot springs and white water: the grand circuit for riders who want the whole country in one trip — with the Andes' finest descents linking it all together.
Arrive in Quito, explore Otavalo's famous Indian market and ride the crater lake of Cuicocha. Then cross east over the Papallacta pass to the jungle edge beneath Cayambe and Antisana.
Ride four hours through lush rainforest to Punta Ahuano and canoe to a river-bank lodge. A Quechua guide leads a jungle hike deep into his rainforest home — parrots, macaws and toucans overhead.
Bike from the Amazon back to Baños along the Avenue of Orchids, enjoy a free hot-springs day, then tackle Chimborazo: on foot to the refuge at 5,000 m and by bike down through patchwork fields. Finish with Cotopaxi's epic 4,500 m descent and the Inca ruins.
After a night in Quito, two days of white-water rafting on the Río Toachi, a transfer back to the colonial capital, and a final morning for gifts and goodbyes before your flight home.
Accommodation throughout, trip leader, full board on camping sections and breakfast every day. Bikes, safety gear, the support jeep and bilingual guides, as always.
Rated moderate. Rideable by anyone with reasonable fitness and basic bike confidence — the itinerary uses the jeep on uphills and saves the legs for the descents.
Many riders add a Galapagos extension or extra days in Quito. Custom dates and private group versions are available on request.
